Bonners Ferry Rotary's annual "Father of all Yard Sales" - April 27 & 28, 2012

     Bonners Ferry Rotary is kicking off spring with their annual "Father of all Yard Sales".  Being held, as always,  indoors at the Fairgrounds, April 27 & 28, eliminates the worry of inclement weather.  So sun, rain, and more likely this year snow, come join the fun.   

     "Father of all Yardsales" offers 26 different booths.  Travel to one location for possibly 26 different garage sales.  Some booths have crafts, foods, antiques, but definately most are of the garage sale type.  So not only do the browsers/buyers have a good time, the vendors enjoy the large crowds that they may not have seen outside their own personal garage.   

      Bonners Ferry Rotary always has a booth of their own manned by volunteers.  All Rotarians donate items, to this booth, to be sold.  All proceeds from donated items, and that of booth rentals, go to Bonners Ferry Rotary.  Any community members who wish to donate items to sell may do so.  Bonners Ferry Rotary members have a wonderful impact on their local area.  If you wish to know more of what they do visit THEIR WEB PAGE.  You will be inspired.

     Wondering what all this costs?  $20 for a booth is all it takes for the two days.  That's right $20!  For the buyers all it costs is a smile as you walk thru and browse.  Help Bonners Ferry Rotary continue lending a hand to the community and join them on April 27th or 28th.

Feng Shui tip for "selling your home" in North Idaho and personal use

     North Idaho is no different than the rest of the nation right now, when it comes to selling a home.   What ever can be done to enhance the looks of a home, should be done.  Of course cost vs result and ROI (return on investment) are always important factors to be examined.  Keeping that in mind, feng shui principles are possibly an avenue to pursue.  Many of these hints work not only for everyday comfort and appeal, but can be especially attractive to a possible buyer.   While not everything will work for everybody,  everyone will find something from the Feng Shui tips that they will want to put to use.  

Feng Shui Tip #1  -  Pay special attention to the front door, which is considered the "mouth of chi" (chi is the 'life force" of all things) and one of the most powerful aspects of the entire property.  Abundance, blessings, opportunities, and good fortune enter through the front door.  It's also the first impression buyers have of how well the sellers have taken care of the rest of the property.  Make sure the area around the front door is swept clean, free of cobwebs and clutter.  Make sure all lighting is straight and properly hung.  Better yet, light the path leading up to the front door to create an inviting atmospere.

Rotary International Supported "WaCanId 2012 Bicycle Ride" - 2nd meeting held

     The 4th annual  Rotary Supported "WaCanId Bicycle Ride"  will take place September 17, 2012 thru September 22, 2012.  What exactly is the WaCanId Ride?  Simply put: a 6 day, 350 mile bicycle ride around the "International Selkirk Loop".   Over the 6 days, riders, travel thru 2 countries and 2 states: USA and Canada, Washington and Idaho.

     Bonners Ferry Rotary, along with International Selkirk Loop is one of 7 clubs supporting/sponsoring the ride as the participants travel around the Selkirk Loop.  Newport, Sandpoint, Ponderay, Nelson, Fruitvale, and Castlegar are the other six clubs.       

     Presently there are two different starting points for the riders to choose from, either Sandpoint or Nelson.  Riders have their luggage moved daily from one hotel to the next nights hotel.  Rest stops and lunch stops are manned by Rotarian Volunteers.  SAG vehicles, ( vehicle insuring rider safety and mechanical support for break downs and minor injuries) for each start point, follow both groups the full 6 days.   There is a layover day, for rest and/or sight seeing.  Nelson riders spend their layover day in Sandpoint and Sandpoint riders in Nelson.

     Proceeds from the "WaCanId Bicycle Ride" benefit all 7 Rotary Clubs.   All clubs  have local needs they address as well as International Projects.  The primary and foremost goal internationally for Rotary is the on going fight against polio.   25 years ago when Rotary International Spearheaded a focused fight against polio there were over 100 countries infected.  Recently India was removed as one of the infected countries leaving only "3" , Pakistan, Afganistan, and Nigeria.  For more complete information click Rotarians fight polio.

Congratulations to Home Owners, Fred & Nadine, on the sale of their Boundary County Home

Congratulations Fred and Nadine on the sale of your home!  Having lived in Boundary County, on the Kootenai River, for the past 25 plus years has shown you many changes and much growth,  both personally and in Boundary County as well.   I have enjoyed working with you, Fred and Nadine, from the decision to sell, to the closing of escrow.  I was able to feel your joy of signing the final paperwork, as well as the relief that came with it.  In that comes my true motivation for continuing in the Real Estate field.   Best of fortune as you move on to your next adventure.

30 year interest rate chart - Lowest rates ever!

     It is of my opinion banks and financial institutions are being critisized in many areas they should not be.  I hear alot of people stating "Banks are not loaning right now!"  I would disagree.  They are not loaning as they were maybe 4 or 5 years ago.  Banks again are requiring such things as a credit history, to be currently employed more than a month,  proper income to debt ratio.   Requirements that you and I would certainly request if we were loaning money to someone, to be repaid in payments.  We would want to feel secure knowing our money would make it back to our pockets. 

     With that being said I think it very interesting in seeing how today's interest rates compare over the past 30 years.  The link below is to an interest chart (distributed by Cathy Pizzini & Kimberly Terry of Evergreen Home Loans) showing FHLMC Rates on 30-Year Fixed-Rate Mortgages over the past 30 years.  2011 showed the lowest rates with 2012 rates (not shown on chart) having dropped even lower.  These rates along with lower housing prices make it a very good time to be buying your new home.
